Score Increase Report
Summary
- 305 point improvement from start to actual SAT score – Students improved an average of 305 points from their Diagnostic Test to their actual SAT!
- 181 point increase from the mid-point of the course – Many students take a practice test from the College Board's Official SAT Guide (a part of our program) half-way through their course. Students' actual SAT scores were 181 points higher than this test, which they took half-way through the course, further validating the 305 point overall increase
- We are the only test prep company willing to openly and transparently discuss our results and back them up with data.
Methodology and Overview
We randomly selected 200 students who enrolled in the PrepMe SAT Platinum program. These students were not restricted to students who had completed the course. We then called these 200 students and each student self reported his or her SAT scores after the PrepMe program.
We then calculated each student's score improvements from both the initial Diagnostic test to the actual SAT score, and from each student's first practice test to his or her actual SAT score. Both sets of data are shown below as distributions. It is important to note that the average scores on the Diagnostic test are in line with national averages for each section (roughly 520-540 for each section).

The Data
The Diagnostic Test to Actual SAT Score Increase Data conveys a number of interesting insights:
- We see a strong distribution around the mean (about 300) with a few outliers. This high but long tailed distibution indicates most students do well and some do extremely well.
- We see 1/3 of all students improved their scores from 300 to 500 points
- We note that because the average scores for this population on the Diagnostic test are in line with national averages, there is evidence that the Diagnostic test is a reasonable approximation for a baseline score.
- Given the sample size, Diagnostic Test scores in line with national averages, and the above score improvements, this is strong evidence for a significant score improvement using PrepMe's Platinum SAT course.
Practice Test 1 is found in the Official SAT Study Guide, published by the College Board. It is as close an approximation to the real SAT as is publicly available. Test 1 is taken by students approximately half way through their schedule, and because not all students completed this Practice Test, the students in this distribution represent a subset of the total group who all took the Diagnostic.
- Again we see a tight distribution around the mean indicating that these score improvements are reliable data.
- We see that students who complete at least 1 practice test improve their scores by at least 60 points and on average 181 points.
- Because we still see significant improvements from this practice test to the actual SAT scores, and because this test is taken approximately half-way through the course, it lends support to the overall score improvements.
